For the month of June, I am flipping through Clarity and Connection, by Yung Pueblo daily and randomly stopping at a page and reading. I am using the entry to delve into my thoughts and feelings, find what resonates, and see what answers it might hold for me. It is an exercise in building my Intuition, making space for creativity, and journeying inward so that I might know myself and others better. Today’s reading was on page 39.
"self awareness is noticing the rhythm of your thoughts" The rhythm of my thoughts, the predictable times, situations, and triggers that bring about a certain kind of thinking. Being intimate with my mind and body, I notice these patterns as they present themselves. I recognize where I feel them. I attune to the language I am using. I notice cognitive distortions. I am aware. "not every thought is valuable;" My feelings are not facts; my thoughts do not define me. I am not what I think or how I feel; I am so much more. I observe and get curious when either come up, acknowledge their presence without trying to solve or repress, then release them when they have delivered their message. Sometimes that information is clear and other times murky. I don't judge, nor do I always understand it. But I sit with it and it passes. My goal is to respond, not to react. And sometimes, the best response is no response at all!
