Dear Love, what would you have me know today?
Peach, I would have you know grace for your need for solitude. The world is a loud and busy one and comes at you from all sides. It compels you to work and talk and accomplish and contribute and lead and follow and make decisions and so much more. So often you hear the message that socialization is so beneficial to our wellbeing. Society tells us that we should be with a partner, friends, coworkers, neighbors, or our families in our free time.
But Peach, you need solitude. You crave it – the silence, the slower speed, the looking inward. You love to explore your thoughts and feelings. You love to organize and simplify your space. You love to read and write. Inspiration and creativity spring from this space.
The world today is constantly intruding. Give yourself permission to leave texts and phone calls unanswered. Hunker down in your home, wander on your walks, or yank weeds in your yard.
Peach, solitude is not the same as loneliness or isolation. It is not avoidance or social anxiety. It is not selfish or indulgent. It is a gift to yourself because no one is more enjoyable to spend time with than you! Continue to carve time out every day for this ritual.
