Letters from Love – Young You

Dear Love, what would you have me know today?

Peach, I would have you love…with your whole heart and your whole mind and all of your compassion and all of your acceptance…the child you were. She needs to hear from you that you delight in her imagination and creativity. She needs to know from you that it is okay to be afraid of the dark and thunderstorms. She needs to believe that she is not alone in feeling different or left out. She needs to understand that she does not need forgiveness for her mistakes, but rather that she is a child who is learning, and they are expected. She needs to feel on a very deep level that the trauma happened to her and that she was not the cause of it. She needs you to thank her for all the ways she found to cope and survive in the world, so often by herself, because she felt she couldn’t tell anyone “her secrets.” Love her, Peach, until she feels celebrated and appreciated and valued and honored.
