I am someone who thrives on hearing a message repeatedly, from different people and through different mediums. The challenge in a class I’m taking was to list the empowering resources you can surround yourself with. I was ready for this one!
Podcasts: I listen to 3 podcasts very regularly and hear messages I need to hear delivered by various hosts and guests in so many different ways, particularly through Story, which always helps me connect.
Trusted Friends: I have a good handful or more of friends who I can be gut level honest with, who will give me feedback and hard truths, but will also come out swinging on my behalf! I appreciate their knowledge, wisdom, lived experience, vulnerability, and willingness to share.
Writing Group: This group of ladies constantly pushes my thinking, despite me being the one to prepare for class and facilitate it. Being in the presence of middle aged women is a blessing and I am so rejuvenated by the liberation we are all experiencing together.
Manifest Group: This group keeps me thinking positively, revisiting goals and longings, and setting my sights on more.
Business Partners: I have teamed up with a photographer, a yoga instructor and a therapist to deliver programming. The collaboration we have invigorates me and opens me up creatively.
Therapy: My therapist is an amazing person. She is so sympathetic, empathetic and compassionate, yet she pushes me and moves me. I am so grateful for our conversations.
Online Newsletters: I receive four online newsletters that hit my inbox daily or weekly. I appreciate the content brought right to me and look forward to the information, pointers and tips.
Reading: I wish I made more time to read, but when I do, I'm never disappointed. I adore fiction, especially historical, but the non fiction reads really help me learn more about myself, how I think, how I react and how I can move forward.
Groups: I belong to two groups where we connect, share Stories, check in on each other and basically get through life together. Some were strangers at the start and I now consider friends.
Costco and AARP Magazines: You'll laugh here, but I read one magazine, then the other when I eat breakfast and lunch every day, and I constantly reference what I've read when talking to people and the topics have been an impetus for writing, class, and teaching. Don't knock it til you try it!
