The Journey Inward

It doesn't matter if things are "just so" for company, yet I get grumpy when they're not,
It doesn't matter if I'm late, yet I think everyone will be let down if I am,
It doesn't matter if I make the bed, yet I can't leave the room without it,
It doesn't matter what others think of me, but yet I care.

It matters that I get my teeth cleaned, yet I procrastinate finding a new dentist,
It matters that I see a dermatologist yearly, yet it's been three,
It matters that I understand finances better, yet I don't ask the questions,
It matters that I get more sleep, yet I stay up late every night,
It matters that I eat better, yet I don't spend time prepping and cooking,

It matters that I trust myself, and so I make daily promises to myself and keep them,
It matters that I accept all the parts of myself, and so I try, even those shadowy parts,
It matters that I love spending time alone, so I carve some out each day,
It matters that I connect with others, so I surround myself with loved ones,
It matters that I love myself, so I affirm that every day in so many ways.
