On Thursday night, on Halloween,
Too warm for Fall, so it would seem,
The costumed children did arrive,
The Party Spirit was alive!
Dinosaurs, fall guys, and police,
Formed a line that never ceased,
Polite this year more than before,
Even complimenting my decor.
My favorites were the family themes,
And kids who planned it as a team,
The makeup was exemplary,
Halfhearted effort a rarity.
My friend and I sat and offered up
Warheads, Twix, peanut butter cups,
Many knew us from our school,
And even the teens weren't too cool
To greet us and to give a hug,
The reunions set our hearts abuzz.
The oddest thing that we did see,
Were lizards carried by a family.
We started late, at 7 o'clock,
After dinner out and a walk,
Around the town to see the sights,
Filling us with sheer delight.
At last blockades were taken down,
And peace descended on our town,
The night had truly been so fun,
Now inside for relaxation!
