Full House

My heart was happy,
This holiday season,
A home full of loved ones,
Was the primary reason!

They came in small groups,
And they came one by one,
They found spots to sleep,
When the day was all done.

We played and we ate,
And went out on the town,
The kids poked and teased,
And were clowning around.

The young and the old,
Came together at table,
Sharing old memories,
Telling them like fables.

Significant others,
Joined with us this year,
Their very presence,
Brought us more cheer.

Friends came and went,
And some stayed the night,
The kids stayed up late,
Until the first light.

The cousins have grown,
And are on their own now,
Describing their jobs,
And their competent know how.

The first guest arrived,
The 15th of November,
And the last one left,
The 1st of December.

My heart was happy,
In our Thanksgiving den,
And in a few weeks,
We'll do it all again!
