Tossed and turned
on the choppy current,
the small paper boat
straightens her bow and stern,
raises her mast higher,
and allows her sail to capture the wind.
She is aware she appears fragile,
and that many doubt she can handle the journey,
but she knows what they do not-
she is an experienced navigator, having
ridden the ripples,
braved the breakers,
crossed the channels,
weathered the waves,
defied the disturbances,
survived the storms.
She has seen more
than some other seafaring ships,
but that has increased her fortitude.
It has made her bold, defiant, certain
that she can withstand what lies ahead,
although she knows not what that might be.
The little boat is red for a reason,
she does not hide or fade,
for she will not be limited,
won't give in or give up.
Though she may be small in size,
she is substantial in spirit,
immeasurable in independence.
She is indomitable,
and she will always rise.
