The Journey Inward

Has this sculptor captured it?
The mysterious, complex concept,
That some say is a feeling,
Others argue is an action,
And still others suggest is a choice
Made daily.

This couple,
Their bodies all lean muscle and beautiful lines,
Touching, hands clasped,
Connected, forming an undeniable heart,
The symbol for love,
Facing separate directions,
Claiming their individuality,
Yet demonstrating their deep trust in one another,

Heads thrown back in surrender,
Their pose one of interdependence,
As neither could stand,
If the other relinquished their handhold.

This statute,
A study in beauty, symmetry, connection,
Unbridled joy, lack of inhibitions,
Freedom, strength and individualism,
Stays with me in mind, body, and spirit.
