Strength Feels Like Weakness

Strength feels just like weakness...
Suffering through the struggle,
Grappling with giving up,
Concerned about capability,
Fearing failure,
Wondering about worthiness,
Dwelling on discomfort,
Skeptical of success,
Brooding over a body giving out...
Strength feels just like weakness,
Except you don't quit!

While in my exercise class tonight, we were doing chest presses to Chase & Status' song, “Spoken Word”, when I heard this line: "Being strong feels exactly the same as being weak." My instructor finished the chorus by shouting the last part, "The difference is you don't quit." At that moment, my arms were shaky, the reps were many, and the weight I had chosen was heavy. Buoyed by the lyrics and her encouragement, I finished the set.

Those words struck me as incredibly true, not just in the midst of Body Pump, but in so many events and experiences in my life. Strength and weakness feel exactly the same until you do the thing. I haven't been able to stop thinking and sharing this idea.
