Flexibility

At the beginning of the month, I chose a daily practice that entailed reading an entry from a book and writing about it each day, posting here on this site. The first 7 days went really well. I was consistent and diligent – reading, writing, posting. Then I took a trip out to Colorado to visit a friend. I had taken snapshots of the pages for those days and read them and took notes on my phone, but didn’t post anything, figuring I’d do it when I got home. I felt good that I was still writing and was proud of my flexibility that I didn’t feel unsuccessful because I wasn’t posting.

Then the next scheduling change came in the form of guests…friends, followed by my daughter and her husband and another daughter and her college roommate. The book was in my office, now inhabited by guests. My computer, as well. At first, I was disappointed with myself for not being better organized, then for not following through. Finally, I ceased to be disappointed and instead rejoiced in the love, fun, care and so much food! This time was a blessing and an opportunity. It was living wholeheartedly, embracing life on life’s terms, fully and happily!

So I’m back on track! Perhaps I’ll circle back and read the pages I missed and post what I get to or perhaps I’ll just pick up and move on. This was intended to inspire my soul, not crush it, which has been a hard life lesson for me, but such a liberating one!
