San Diego Day 3

With one daughter out for a run and one sound asleep on the couch with the pups, I set out for an early morning 6 mile walk along the beach and through town while chatting on the phone with some friends back home I felt alive and connected.

From there, it was off to Coronado for a drive around the island, a walk through town, an iced chai latte, and a stroll along the beach. We ate lunch on park benches, then headed out.

Balboa Park was our next stop. It boasts 16 different museums. My girls fast track our sightseeing, and knowing I’ll go back to all these places to thoroughly investigate the history next week when they’re all at work, I match their pace. The cacti and buildings are spectacular.

We stopped to get some groceries and toiletries for my sailor, then my middle took my youngest shopping at Sun Diego for her birthday. Arriving back home, we gathered up the dogs and brought them to the beach to watch my son-in-law surf! He’s just learning and doing great! The surfing community is really cool here.

The kids had friends over and we cooked out on the common grill in the courtyard and ate at a table there. The evening air was cool and the conversation warm. It felt so good to see them settled into their home.

Too overcast for sunset tonight, we curled up on their massive couch and watched tv.

San Diego is so many things, and each little area has its own delights. The weather has been hot and humid, which apparently is not the norm. But we sleep with windows open and fans on and it’s gorgeous.
