I enjoyed a quiet, early ride to work with my middle daughter again. My first stop was a walk to get tea in the big bubble again because it was quite chilly. I warmed up by taking a 2 mile walk along the pier and further to scope some lunch options. Satisfied that I would have plenty to do and eat later, I walked back to the pier and got in line for my harbor tour.

The tour was peaceful, and I was grateful to sit for 2 hours after the 11 miles I walked yesterday. A good deal of the information was a repeat of yesterday’s trolley tour, but there was a lot of military information today, particularly about the Navy. It was fun to pass my daughter’s Coast Guard base, watch their helicopter take off and hear about it. Going under the Coronado Bridge, I was reminded that Governor Ronald Reagan stood up there as it was opened in 1969. My absolute favorite part was seeing the sea lions piled up on the buoys and playing on the docks.
Hungry, I headed back to Seaport Village and chose a slice of tomato and burrata pizza, perched at a counter overlooking the bay. From there, I walked far, almost to the base of the Coronado Bridge and back. I spent a little time going in and out of stores and found an adorable jumpsuit. I took a picture in the mirror and sent it to my friend in Colorado who she said she loved it and wanted it, too! I bought one and it will be waiting for her in the kids’ spare bedroom when she comes to visit.

Checking my watch and seeing that my daughter’s workday was nearly done, I set out briskly on foot for little Italy to have some gelato. Instead, I found my second favorite ice cream store that I always went to when I visited this daughter in Miami. They had one here and I indulged in 2 scoops of bleu cheese and pear!
Overcast tonight, so no sunset walk. It’s amazing how disappointed I feel when I don’t watch the sun dip into the water.
