Today began at my youngest daughter’s house, enjoying the property and beautiful flowers. She and her roommates have made it such an inviting home.
From there we walked up the 164 steps of the Astoria Column to gain breathtaking views of the area. We enjoyed a brief walk on the trail through the woods at the base.
Downtown Astoria has interesting shops, architecture, more sea lions and seals and the house from the Goonies movie!
We drove across the Columbia river into Washington State, and drove along 101 for a while. We stopped in Long Beach for some ice cream, the kite fest, and a walk.
After dinner, we drove on to the beach at Fort Stevens State Park and watched a gorgeous sunset.
It was a beautiful day with my beloved girl, and I was a grateful mom with a happy heart!
This photo shows the wreckage of The Peter Iredale, a ship that ran ashore in 1906 and is now one of the most accessible shipwrecks on the West Coast.
