Summer is always my time to see friends, take day trips, vacation and make the moments count. But no summer has been more significant than this one, knowing that there will be long periods of time between visits and Stateside experiences. And so, very intentionally, I started taking advantage of every opportunity and savoring the experiences.
I took walks with friends, had coffee/tea dates, went to concerts, got together with my Pod Squad ladies, had friends to dinner, had friends for the weekend, went out to dinner, went to DC and VA several times, celebrated birthdays, went to the DC and US Opens, visited Gigi, Taylor and Gillian in their new homes, and drove up the West Coast by myself. I talked on the phone with long distance friends, including a new one in South Africa.
It was a summer to remember because it was so bittersweet. I wanted to etch each moment into the fiber of my being so I could replay them when I am thousands of miles away. I am so grateful for my rich and close friendships, for my children, for my family and for the everyday pleasures of life. I have been truly blessed in this life.
