The Journey Inward

One thing I love about my family is that almost everyone loves to travel and we are spread out in so many places.

It was so wonderful that my niece was already living in San Diego when my daughter moved out there. While I was visiting, she moved in with her boyfriend in a place that is less than half a mile from my daughter and son-in-law. I hope that they will spend lots of time together and grow close. They haven’t spent a lot of time together over the years, with my niece growing up overseas.

My aunt and uncle live in Phoenix, as do two of their grown sons. I was sending pictures from San Diego while I was there, and they decided they would drive out for a visit over Labor Day weekend. This made my heart happy because I know how much my aunt misses my mom and this connection with my mom‘s grandchildren would feel so special. My daughter and niece have not spent a lot of time with my aunt because of the distance.

Their get together was on Sunday and my aunt’s daughter surprised everyone by flying out from Indiana and joining them. My aunt sent me pictures and stories of the day. She was so happy. My daughter, too, reported that it was a nice time.

It’s a wonderful thing when you can feel that no matter where you go, you have family close by.
