The Journey Inward

A little perspective…last night I was talking to my friend, Tom, and I said I’m not great with night driving here because the oncoming lights shine directly at me because we’re both toward the center of the road. He pointed out that it’s the same way back home and I had to process that for quite some time before realizing that’s completely true. He said that he noticed that in my post last week about facing the driver.

It made me realize that when we are in the midst of new experiences that seem quite different or uncomfortable or uncertain, that we sometimes forget what we already know. I was assuming that everything was opposite to what I knew, but that wasn’t true.

A good lesson in not making assumptions and to ascertain what is new versus what is known.
