The Journey Inward

I chose “Holiday” by Madonna for my Instagram post today because I am truly enjoying being on holiday this week in Cape Town. There is so much to do. I’m technically in a different time zone, but Cape Town stays with the rest of South Africa.

First and foremost, I didn’t sleep well this past week, but with my windows open last night, I had the sea air and sounds of the ocean to lull me into deep sleep. I even turned off my alarm and continued to sleep and rest. Not every minute of vacation has to be spent on the go, which is always my temptation. It was such a delight waking to this view this morning!

I started by getting Naked for breakfast. That was the name of the restaurant and it was delicious. I’m challenging myself to eat new menu items and this morning’s was shakshuka. It was so delicious!

From there, I walked along the coastline to Green Point Park and enjoyed the paths and water and plants and stadium in the distance.

After stopping back at my apartment to charge my phone and have some water, I walked down to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. My Airbnb is so convenient to so much! It was a fun day taking in the sights, doing some shopping at local artisan stalls and a little mall shopping, sitting outside enjoying live music and a soccer game and taking pictures of the beautiful mountains.

I ate dinner at a food hall and enjoyed the ambience there. My huge beer was only $3.36! My dinner was from a South African delicacy restaurant.

It was coming up on sunset, so I walked back to sit out in the tidepools across the street from my apartment. As the sun lowered, I walked down the boardwalk to get better views.

Back in the apartment now, I talked to Sara, caught up on texts and emails and am typing this up! A wonderful day! 12.5 miles of walking!
