Friday

Some musings today…

I have a five minute commute to work. Today I counted exactly how many speed bumps and roundabouts are between my house and my school. The answer? 14 and 4!! I had to laugh that that’s what makes my commute a whole five minutes! An example of a speed bump into a roundabout…

I had both morning duty and snack duty today, so I got to walk around the grounds a lot. Such beauty blooming on campus…

At lunch, I took a quick walk and discovered what looked like a green bean tree! Only these were the longest green beans I’ve ever seen! The reference that came up under my picture didn’t seem correct and no one on campus seemed to know what it was.

We get to leave early on Fridays, but I stayed late to catch up. It’s been a whirlwind of a week. I did a little grocery shopping and then stopped at Cairo Kitchen on my way home. My friend, Teighler had highly recommended it and she was spot on! It just so happens to be next to my favorite bar with the live music, so as I sat at the picnic tables and waited for my chicken and lamb Shawarma wrap, I got to hear some great music!

Biltong is very popular (and originated) in this country. It is similar to a jerky back in the States, and as you can imagine, comes in all kinds of flavors!

Skipped happy hour and came home and ate my delicious wrap, walked 3 miles, and watched TV for the first time since I’ve been here! I binged hard with three episodes of The Gentleman and one episode of The Morning Show!

Beautiful sunset tonight…
