Walking onto campus at 6:45 this morning, who should come running down the corridor toward me but a yellow mongoose! He stopped and sat up on his hind legs and we had a kind of greeting before he dashed for the open fields of the playground to have some fun before the kids came!

My foot felt better today at work. I wrapped it tight and wore my running sneakers. Tonight it is sore, so more frozen veggies and elevation.
The company installing my fibre texted at 9:15 to see if I could come home to meet the installer (someone from school was supposed to go, but all employees except the teacher (?!?!?) were deemed too important!). I asked if I could scoot out at my lunch and got the go ahead. I was thinking that so many things are getting resolved and making my life easier. Then I got home from work tonight to find I had absolutely no Wifi, not even the weak one I’ve had since moving in!
But Alaina is the best and she texted with me all night until we solved it. She’s worked with me evenings and weekends to make this install happen. I’m still working off weak temporary wifi, but hopefully the fibre will kick in within 48 hours.
My house is beginning to look more like a home! Here is some of the art I brought with me and some that I’ve bought here. It’s hard to keep stuff up on the walls because they are brick and concrete. I find my stuff on the floor regularly! Trying all different kinds of sticky stuff!

I opened Jan’s card after having brunch out with my friend, Maria. It was so sweet! She is amazing!!

One thing I’ve noticed here is that convenience is not prized the way it is back in the States. Everything is packaged and sealed so as to make for easy opening, reclosing and storing. Here you have to use tools to break into most things and packaging is not meant to be storage! Exhibit A. I know it looks like that one corner is a tab for easy opening. That is incorrect. It is sealed as tight as all the other corners and that’s every jam I’ve tried to open at a restaurant, every fruit salad I’ve purchased, and on and on…

I booked my flight for the holidays last night and the girls and I are beginning to plan our time together. So expensive to fly right now, but so worth it! I should probably get an airline credit card with all these miles!!
Finally, Henry is doing his part for the San Diego first responders just as he did in Flemington. That’s our boy!
