A quick note about the guards at the entrance to my estates. I’m pretty sure they rotate in and out of 12 hour shifts. From the first day I arrived, they have been so friendly. One in particular would always sing “Helllooo” to me in a high pitched voice when I returned home. Initially, I thought he was just surprised I had found my way back each day. But soon I discovered that he is just that friendly and enthusiastic.
I greet them every time I come and go, on foot or in my car. They were excited when I got my new car. They call me when a guest is visiting or I’ve left my garage door up. They call me at work when packages arrive or the gardener is there to work.
When I got back from 3rd grade camp, they were so relieved to see me. They said they had been so worried about me and didn’t know if they should call! I was so touched they noticed. When I brought my car in for servicing recently, I took an uber home. As I got out of the car and walked through the gate, they asked where my car was. I could tell they were concerned.
I love to bring them drinks and treats from time to time. They don’t expect anything, but always appreciate something.
Our security system and gate are definitely not as sophisticated and modern as those of my friends, but the guys are friendly and in this small community, I feel like they’ve got our backs!
