My oldest daughter is turning 25 this month. To celebrate our February birthdays, she invited me to a Dessert Tasting at a restaurant in downtown DC, where she lives. The night was special, as I love spending time with this grown human who I’ve watched develop and grow into an interesting, socially conscious, thoughtful adult. Our bounty:

A poem about this young woman…
I can still see her, Spiral curls and big brown eyes, Always curious. I can still see her, Dressing up and performing, Her favorite scenes. I can still see her, Mesmerized by all her books, An avid reader. I can still see her, Always trying something new, Open to the world. I can still see her, Preferring to be alone, With her thoughts and mind. I can still see her, Diving into her subjects, Gaining depth and breadth. I can still see her, Applications and visits, Charting her future. I can still see her, Country girl loves the city, She finds her people. I can still see her, Summers in Romania, Abroad in London. I can still see her, The Fulbright Scholar is off, Bulgaria bound. I can still see her, Little girl in grown woman, Creating her life. Photo: City Center, DC. 2.3.23 by LA
