Illusion

I think I see it,
Surely my eyes aren't lying,
It must be the truth.
But can I truly believe,
That which seeks to fool my mind?

The Illusionist
Isn't just a shady guy,
It is also me
When I don't want to see truth,
When I just want to believe.

Sometimes my feelings
Purport themselves to be fact,
Altering my view
Of reality. Instead
They are just information.

What's the antidote?
How do I change my thinking?
I don't! Just observe
Without judgement or contempt,
Catch and release, surrender!

  1. Our feelings are always valid, but they aren’t always facts. I love your last line, “Catch and release, surrender.” Yes!
