Letters from Love – Release

Dear Love, what would you have me know today?

My sweet, I would have you notice how much sweeter life is when you’re not trying to control the outcome of its moments. Believe me, I am not knocking you… I fully understand where that urge comes from. I understand your need to protect yourself. I understand your need for stability and security and safety. I’m not asking you to live in fear, to live on the edge.

What I am pointing out to you is how much more you delight in every moment when you haven’t tried to orchestrate it, when you haven’t tried to polish it up and make it perfect, when you haven’t put hours of thought and planning into it. What a delight it is when you release that anxious attachment to outcome where you are so busy thinking about what everyone else is thinking about! What a delight it is to be surprised, amazed, amused, impressed, inspired – things that can only come when you are truly in the moment.

My sweet, release what is not yours to control: stop doing the work of others, stop giving away your chances at happiness, stop trying to protect others, stop trying to measure up to a standard that exists only in your mind. Decimate the construct of what anything is “supposed” to look like, and allow things to look the way they actually are. Put all that you want and need out into the Universe and know that it will be answered. Open your heart and all that you need shall be yours.
