She

She sits,
Her naked body upon a carpet of lush, green grass,
Gazing out at the distant storm.
Jagged lightning stabs violently at broiling clouds.
She could just make out a sad and weary eye, caught in the chaos.

A stray curl escapes her shoulder length hair,
Glances across her cheek.
Arms upon her knees, she bends one up toward her body,
While the other she extends out.
Her small breasts rest above her belly,
Which feels the stirrings of the storm.

Connecting to the cool ground beneath her,
She feels centered and at ease.

A breeze kicks up and with it, she senses the certainty of change,
Though she cannot fathom its form.
Even so, she feels ready,
Strong, resilient, hopeful.
This moment, sweet and soothing,
Will soon be replaced by the tingling energy,
Of who she is to become.

Inhaling deeply, she traps the breath, with ease now,
Releasing it as the storm comes nearer.
Hair blows wildly about her face,
Yet her heart is filled with peace.
