I love to walk around my little town and I easily log two dozen miles a week. Lately, I’ve really slowed my pace to take in the top tier decorations on display. Each street seems to be outdoing the next, everyone upping their game from last year. I take pictures as I go and send them to my kids, my family, my out of town friends, and the responses are always the same: WOW!

I know some of these families and imagine their kids are so excited about their houses and yards. Other families have no kids at home, but the grown ups can’t wait for this holiday each year. I was worried because the neighbor who really does Halloween up sold his house last year and moved away. There’s nothing quite like his collection.

I’ve done only Fall decorating, but my Halloween spirit is found in the 1,000 pieces of candy I’ve bought to prepare for the onslaught of Trick or Treaters who will descend on my party of a street in a few days. We are the place to be on Halloween night! A bunch of friends are coming over to have dinner, pass out candy and admire costumes. A few of us will break off at a time to walk around the neighborhood and take in the sights. After 20 years living at the top of a hill on 3 acres of land and no trick or treaters, this is a real change…but a fun one!
