The Journey Inward

Walking with a friend,
Through a park we know so well,
For years it's been our meeting spot,
And held us in its spell.

Shining above trees,
When we set off down the trail,
The sun highlighted waterfalls,
An autumn wedding veil.

Turning down a path,
With the canal on our left,
The dimming light hit tops of trees,
Daylight Savings’ theft.

Wrapping up our walk,
Past a bench beside a view,
Of water slowly drifting by,
The sun near its curfew.
