The Journey Inward

In a small theater,
in a quaint town,
on a chilly wintry night,
my daughter and I sat
mesmerized, amused and delighted
by the cast of singers and dancers
performing one of her favorite childhood stories,
Anastasia.
Impressed by what we saw,
we chatted excitedly during intermission,
and again on our walk back to the car.

Musical theater
lifts the spirit,
engages our senses,
evokes emotion,
ignites creativity,
and transports us to another time and place.

I was so grateful for this night together,
for the beautiful performances,
charming theater,
cozy seats and 
holiday feel.
