"If you lose someone because you didn't fit the kind of person they would like you to be, you were able to KEEP something far more precious, your dignity." ~Dodinsky
I love and embrace and am coming to embody this principle. In addition to dignity, I would also say you keep your identity.
I think discernment and filtering are important actions when we allow people into our lives. We want people who enhance and enrich our lives and who are consistent and dependable. We want to be the same to others.
Sometimes, we are not a good fit with another person. There may be an imbalance, it may feel transactional, they may be unhealthy, or they may expect us to be something we're not.
It is a wonderful reminder that we are never too much for the right person. We never have to change who we are at our core.
Each day this month, I am reading and writing about an entry from gentle reminders: SIMPLE TRUTHS FOR A MEANINGFUL LIFE by Dodinsky. This book was given to me after my divorce by a friend, with this inscription: "Let your soul sparkle."
