More poetry written during my 4th Grade Poetry Club time, experimenting with a structure of repetition.
Red glasses,
resting on the bridge of my nose.
Red glasses,
purchased at my beloved Costco.
Red glasses,
progressive prescription helping me see near, far and in between,
framing my eyes with this favored color of mine,
fun and free and the perfect fit.
Red glasses,
that make it possible to see
the excitement on my youngest's face as she learns her billet,
the sweetness on my middle's face as she opens her birthday gift,
the maturity on my oldest's face as she shares the impact on her industry.
Red glasses,
that make it possible to see
the winter landscape on my trail walk,
the peaches and cream sunset,
the early sprouts of spring.
Red glasses,
that make it possible to see
my puppies' sweet faces as they vie for attention,
my daily New York Times puzzles,
my tea mug filled to the brim with the flavor of the day.
Red glasses,
have I ever thanked you for all that you show me,
all the beauty, joy and wonder you reveal to me,
from the moment I rise til the moment I close my eyes?
Red glasses,
thank you, thank you, thank you!
