Appreciation

Appreciation in so many forms
during Teacher Appreciation Week...
a free coffee truck in front of the school,
time in our classrooms instead of a faculty meeting,
a make your own bouquet station,
breakfast and lunch and snacks,
chocolate and doughnuts
and gift card raffles from the PTO.
Lots of ways I felt appreciated as a teacher this week.

And then there were these...
hugs from my kindergarten students,
a piece of chocolate from a 3rd grader whose car door I open daily,
a note from a parent thanking me for my work with her 2nd grade son,
a box full of stickers from a 4th grade girl
who noticed I have them all over my water bottle and mugs,
a hug and note from a 4th grade boy who says I am his favorite,
a gem stone from a 2nd grade girl along with a hug,
a returned pen from a 2nd grade boy who swiped it from my room.
These ways meant even more this week.

Each day I go to school with the goal of contributing.
Contributing patience and playfulness,
knowledge and know how,
skills and strategies,
resilience and resourcefulness,
independence and imagination,
creativity and concern,
acceptance and adaptability,
flexibility and forgiveness,
positivity and passion.
