Pillow Puppy

It started after a haircut, a silly one off, I thought, that Spencer began this pillow game. A friend was staying over, and as we said goodnight and I walked into my bedroom, Spencer didn't follow me. I walked across the hall to see if he had come into her room, but she hadn't seen him. Back in my room with Henry, who jumped up onto the bed, we both saw the pillow move.

What ensued was the funniest game of dog hide and seek, and it made me laugh so hard. Henry could not fathom why Spencer was behind the pillow, and it started to agitate him so much he tried to move the pillow-and then resorted to just barking. But Spencer wasn't having it. He would peek his head out, but disappear again.

This lasted for almost 10 days, with Spencer getting behind the couch pillows when we sat there, behind the pillows on the guest room bed while I worked in my office, and under my bed pillows at night. Henry gave up trying to get him to come out. Spencer was just a pillow dog now.

But then it abruptly stopped the other day, and it made me so sad. I missed the antics and the tiny, sweet face popping out. Maybe his haircut left him chilly. Maybe he was itchy and being buried eased it. I don't know, but it was so darn cute!
