Game Night

I hosted Game Night at my house last Friday night. As per usual, I bought way too much food, but it was nice to entertain. I made a signature cocktail and had sweet, savory and salty snacks.

The first game we played was Poetry for Neanderthals, a game my friend introduced me to during a Girls Weekend at her beach house. We laughed so hard. And on this night, it was the same. Add in the fact that some phrases were decidedly American and it was really a good time. One guest complained that there was only one American in the room, but I pointed out that I was living here and learning everything South African, so they could reciprocate a little.

The game involves you giving clues to your team to guess a one word and two word answer, but you can’t use the words on the card and you can’t speak in anything but one syllable words. Hence the Neanderthal component.

The second game was called New Phone, Who Dis? and it was quite irreverent and raunchy at times. It also had us laughing hard. Although not all my friends knew each other before arriving that night, they certainly knew each other well when they left!
