John was already awake and ready downstairs when I came down Saturday morning. Our first stop was the Hazel Food market, one of my favorite places. We got coffee for him and tea for me, as well as a few sweet treats. Our number in the coffee line was 69, which is the year we both were born.
We came back to pick up my neighbor Sue and take her out for brunch. She chose such a fun Cafe called Swartskaap, meaning black sheep. It was such a beautiful setting and the two of them hit it off so well!
From there, we went to my favorite hiking spot, Moreleta Kloof Reserve. As we rounded our first turn on the trail, a group of zebras was walking toward us. I practically had to pull John off the trail so he didn’t get kicked! It was so magnificent to see these animals up close.
From there, we went to my favorite local bar, Stoetbul, and had a beer and listened to some live music. John enjoyed it very much!
That night we went to the tasting room in Hazelwood for a wine tasting from Cape Town. I was not a big fan of the wine, but I liked the story behind it and it was fun to try each one and talk about it.
We then drove to 16th at Koi for dinner. The food was tremendous, and again we had such great conversations with the wait staff. In addition to our cocktails, the manager brought us two complementary shots.
We Ubered last night, but not tonight and I was in no condition to drive after that, so we walked around that area and then went into the casino.
When we got home, we sat out on the back patio and lit the candle I had bought that morning at the market. We did two of my favorite Springbok shots.
