Johannesburg

My friend, Bex picked John and me up early Tuesday morning and drove us to the train station in Hatfield. We took the speedy Gautrain into Rosebank and hopped right onto our Hop on, Hop off bus tour of Johannesburg.

It was a beautiful day with bright sunshine, and I enjoyed this experience for a second time, taking in even more this time, while hearing John’s highlights. Our main stop was the Apartheid Museum, the first time for both of us. He entered as black, and I entered as white, so our initial experiences were quite different. It was an incredibly moving tribute to the spirit of South African resilience and forgiveness. The core beliefs and principles were beautiful. I already knew a lot of the history leading up to apartheid, but I learned so much new information and immersed myself in the life and passion of Nelson Mandela and Hope.

After finishing the tour, we walked down to a speakeasy that was quite difficult to find. It is called Sin-Tax. The drinks were absolutely amazing and the space had a fantastic vibe. We then walked to Marble, a beautiful restaurant with delicious food. It was a fantastic day in the city and John really liked Johannesburg. An uber ride home capped our day.
