People here complain of the cold, but with sunny and warm days, it’s nothing like the winters of my native New Jersey. Plus, there is still so much in bloom. I love it! And I love the chilly nights, though I wish my house was a bit warmer.
I’ll post separately about the tattoo, but I got my first on the Tuesday of my last week.
My friend John, who had visited sent some money for us to buy treats for the kids on the last day. They enjoyed it!
The teachers had to come in one more day, so as soon as we were done, my team went out for a coffee tasting at Graze. We’ve been trying to get there for the past several months.
I then went to the fairy tail end of Ellen’s birthday party at Blos.
That night, I went to a wine tasting at the Pretoria country club as a guest of Chan’s, my colleague. It was the first time I’ve spent time with a group of Americans. The food was excellent, but the ratio of it to wine was off enough that I was getting a buzz! I only took tastes of the first five.
It was exciting to watch the opening game of the World Cup, South Africa versus Mexico, amongst a table of South Africans!
The next day, I ran errands like crazy and then took Sue out to lunch. I put all of my plants on the kitchen table and the surrounding tables in the lounge so that my colleague’s daughters can water them once a week for me.
After temporarily losing my passport, I was out the door to the airport, where Walter had just dropped off a client. We had dinner and before I knew it, I was starting my journey back home.
